Yard Sale

After we moved the girls into their new beds, we suddenly got the "itch" to clear the house out a bit (we are slowly growing out of our house with another baby on the way).  So we decided to have a yard sale.

We were such terrible procrastinators about the whole thing and actually debated several times on FRIDAY could we actually pull it off (we had still not prepared for the sale at this time, lol).  Seth ended up waking early on Sat. morning around 5:45 and throwing things out into the yard and pricing them.  Our goals were to 1) clear out some stuff to help make room in the house 2) make a little money 3) have some quality time with the kiddos outside and 4) help teach the kids early on about being frugal and making $$$ :)

The kids actually helped bake cookies and sold them at the sale (kept them entertained and taught them the value of hard work).

I feel like the yard sale was a success, we met our goal amount in mula and got rid of a lot of stuff, I am a terrible hoarder, so this was a BIG STEP for me.  We could not have picked a better day for the sale the weather was FANTASTIC.  We all soaked it up.
The brains behind the whole operation!
In between customers, we played, snacked, and enjoyed one another

Around 11:00 I took the kids of "Barbies" which is really Harvey's to you and me and let them spend some of their money on these toy dogs (they are like fifty cents).  And on the way back I saw that there was another yard sale going on on our road but on the other side of the highway.  Well, they put the yard sale sign OVER ours and pointed the arrow going the opposite direction!!!  Can you believe that, how rude!  Seth and I were both pretty upset, b/c this made it impossible for anyone on highway 122 to even know about our sale :-/  We didn't really know any nice way of addressing the issue with the people, so we took the "you reap what you sow" path and moved on :)

It was a really fun time, and I didn't mind seeing the things go, all the families that came were super friendly and I love meeting new people, heck I would prolly even have a "free yard sale" if they were all as pleasant as that one was :)
