Stevie's Staph Infection

Well, as promised, my next post is all about Stevie Joy.  However, it is not too cheerful :(
She woke up Friday morning and had a tiny red blemish under her eye,,I didn't think too much of it and went on to work and left Denise (Seth's mom) in charge of the kiddos.
I kept an eye on it for the rest of the day and just figured the cat must have scratched her or something?  Then, Saturday morning it was a little worse.  Seth thought that it was a rash, because he *says that he use to get rashes all the time as a child (which somehow no one else remembers anything like this but him).  I, truthfully, thought that she had gotten into some poison ivy/oak because I know that there is some of that in this yard somewhere (I use to play in this same backyard as a child and have gotten into poison ivy/oak back here myself).
Seth was pretty strongly believing that it was just a rash, so we went with the "rash" assumption and treated it like one and assumed that it wasn't contagious.
The "rash" kept getting worse and worse, so I decided to be on the safe side to just run by Seth's parents' house and have them take a look at it to see if it looked serious to them or not.  Seth's dad said to take her in (which if HE says it then it's pretty serious, in my book, he is so naturally calm about things since he has worked in the medical field for so long).  I would've taken her in right then but it was a Sunday and they were closed, so we waited until Monday morning.
Monday morning we woke up bright and early changed clothes, grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to the doc so that we could be the first ones there,,,or so we thought,,,the line was SUPER LONG and the clinic had not even opened yet!!
The wait wasn't too bad (and I saw a friend up there who ever so kindly shared her snacks with my three kids, ha), and we saw the doctor, right away he said that it was staph infection :( and that it is pretty contagious.  He gave us some antibiotics, cream, and another medicine and lots of instructions on how to take care of it.  Here is how it looks:

It's pretty sad!  It itches really bad and makes her cranky (and her meds make her cranky too).  She will often ask for me to take it off her face.  She is pretty terrible about when we have to put on her lotion (she doesn't like to be messed with or bothered *sigh).
Even when she just saw this picture of herself she said, "oh no, what's that on my face? I need to take that off my face."  Isn't that sad?!
For now, we are following the treatment instructions, and all praying and agreeing that this too shall pass and that no one else will catch this and that it will not scar (the doc said it may scar because her skin is so fair complected).

**today, the actual rash part seems to be less, but her face  is still super puffy and swollen, hopefully she will be back to normal by this weekend, the pharmacist said as long as she has open wounds then it is contagious, so hopefully 5-7 days,,,looks like we will be staying in doors all week :(  At least it's a great time to clean this MESS of a HOUSE since we can't go out and do something fun anyway

  1. I actually prefer going to Youth Care on Sunday over the regular doctor on Monday. In and out, less than an hour. Especially if you go right before 12 (church crowd?). Just FYI.

  4. To solve the root of the problem, a natural acne treatment () should be adopted.

used in a majority of both over the counter and prescription acne
treatments. The skin is the largest organ in the body,
it is the most visible parts of the body, so it only
makes sense that we care for it.
